News and Changes of CAACME in 2003 Annual Meeting in San Diego

 

Dear Members and Friends,

The CAACME Board are pleased to announce the following important changes of CAACME after the 2003 Annual Meeting in San Diego.

March 19, 2003


1. CAACME BOARD have approved that the CAACME will be changed to the Association of Chinese Corrosion Engineers (ACCE) International. This name is more representative for members around the world and has a clear focus on corrosion and corrosion related material research, development, and business.

ACCE International aims to become a professional and no-profit organization in
US, with members residing in the world. Association's membership is open to
anyone or organization who agrees with its mission and interests.

2. The goals of the new Board of ACCE International in 2003 are
a. Consolidate the new leadership and identity of ACCE International
b. Build a solid constitutional and financial footing of ACCE International
c. Prioritize the development focus for ACCE International

3. Constitution and bylaws of ACCE will be finalized in 2003 through the Constitution and by-law Committee. The current voluntary members of this committee includes,
a. David Wang, President, (2002-2004) (Chair)
b. Bob Fu. Vice President, (2002-2004)
c. Gorge Lai, Past President of CAACME (1996-1998)
d. Robert B. Puyear, Past President of NACE, (1997-1998)


The objective of this committee is (1) to prepare the first internal constitution and bylaws for the new organization called ACCE International 2) to define the mission of the organization.


4. Membership will include three categories and the corresponding annual dues are listed as follows,
a. Company member, $200.00
b. Member, $20.00
c. Student member, Free

Membership fee collection system can be incorporated into the future ACCE web site using on-line payment method, such as PayPal. Members can pay their membership fee regardless of their physical locations. It can also be collected at our annual dinner meeting in NACE conference.

a. The Membership Committee will be formed to enhance the development of membership and service. Need volunteers for this committee.

Again, we encourage members to volunteer for the membership
committee or serve as an ambassador for ACCE in their communities.

5. Web Committee was formed during the 2003 Board Meeting. The voluntary members of this committee include,
a. Dr. Shiwei William Guan (Chair),
b. Dr. Aaron Fu
c. Dr. Hongbin Wang
d. Mr. Feng Gui


This committee will develop web system for ACCE International along with other committees. The URL address for the new website is http://www.acceinternational.org/. Before the new website is established, the current website at http://www.caacme.homestead.com is still functional.

6. Technology Committee was re-organized during the 2003 Board Meeting. The Current Committee includes
a. Dr. Benjamin Chang (US)
b. Dr. Shiwei William Guan (Canada)
c. Prof. Yongjun Tan, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore)
d. Prof. Wen-Ta Tsai, National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan)
e. China (to be recruited)


7. The Education Committee and the Inter-association Coordination Committee were removed from the Board because of limited resources and lack of activities in the past year.

The President of ACCS International is directly responsible for developing the
collaborations with other international organizations, e.g. China Chemical
Anticorrosion Technology Association (CCATA), Chinese Society for Corrosion
and Protection, NACE, and ECS Corrosion Division.

8. The current board members shall continue their service and leadership in the Board of Directors of ACCE. However, they may elect to retire if unable to serve due to changes in their personal situation. It is mandatory for all board members to participate in at least one committee. Board members, irrespective of their history of service, who are not actively involved in the Association's activities will be automatically removed from the Board. Board members should contact chair persons of the Committee of their interest immediately or notify the President if they elect to retire.

9. All members are encouraged to join various committees of ACCE International and, if interested, apply for a position in the Board. The appointment shall be decided by the current Board. The appointment criteria are the enthusiasm of the applicants in serving the committees and ACCE International.


10. Future Annual Meetings:

March 31, 2004 in New Orleans, LA
April 6, 2005 in Houston, TX,

Note:

Board: refer to the Board of Directors of ACCE International.
Committee: refer to the sub committee under the Board. Each committee has Chair and vice chair. The Chair will report to President.
